Magistra Performance Series

The superstrat Magistra has been the foundation of VanderMeij Guitars since 2015. For the first time, we’ve made the Magistra more accessible through our new Performance Line. 10 years of custom shop experience made more accessible.

Built based on our original design and fitted with our in-house handwound pickups, the Indonesian built Magistra Performance Line delivers the quality, feel and reliability our instruments are known for. Each guitar gets equipped with pickups in our custom shop, as well as a QC and VanderMeij setup.

Available in three variants, all suited for your heavy riffs: a standard 6-string, a baritone 6-string, and a multiscale 7-string.

Choose any color you like: as long as it's black!

  • Built in Indonesia, finished in Amsterdam

    Our Performance Series guitars are built in a small Indonesian factory with ethical practices, specializing in high-end instruments. Each guitar is produced in small batches and receives quality control and setup in our Amsterdam workshop. We equip these guitars with original Hipshot hardware, ensuring they match the quality standards of our full lineup. Scroll down for a full specslist and measurements.

    Equipped with premium components including stainless steel frets, Luminlay side dots and Ebony fretboard, you've everything you need to trust your instrument on stage. This is a no-compromise workhorse: streamlined options, professional-grade components, at an accessible price point.

  • Handwound Hellebaard pickups

    The Hellebaard pickups installed in the Performance Series Magistra guitar is a boutique handwound pickup.

F.A.Q.


Can I get it with Floyd Rose/Evertune/etc.?
We have three batches of 25 guitars with set specs. We have not decided about a follow up yet. Please let us know what you'd like in a next batch!

How long will it take to ship?
We try to ship every guitar within five working days. If it takes longer we'll notify you.

Do you ship to my country?
We ship worldwide using Fed-Ex, a reliable and fast service with full insurance. Not every country is set up on our website yet, please shoot us a message if you need it elsewhere and we'll set it up.

Shipment is €45,- within Europe (UK incl), €160,- to the USA and €220,- elsewhere. Of course you are always welcome to pick up your guitar at our workshop if possible!

How about a gigbag/hardcase?
A high quality gig bag is included in the price. You can choose a hardcase at an upcharge of €90,-.

What's the setup?
We standard setup the guitars as follows:
6 string standard: 10-46, E standard
6 string baritone: 13-68, Drop A/B standard
7 string multiscale: 10-46+68, Drop A
If you have other preferences, please let us know and we'll set it up accordingly! But allow a couple of working days extra to ship it.
